Urban Engineering Completes Scootering To School Project in Oxford
Leading exterior furniture designers and manufacturers Urban Engineering has recently supplied and installed four of its unique singlesided scooter racks for a project at Faringdon Junior School, Oxon.
The scooter racks, which were designed and created by the company are the perfect solution of how pupils can use this fun and healthy form of transport to get to school, then as importantly, store the scooters securely through the day until required again.
Faringdon Junior School Head teacher, Paul Turner said about the scheme:
"It's great for the school to have a Scooter Park, as coming to school on a scooter gets children into goods habits about travelling short distances without relying on polluting cars."
Funding for the scheme was provided by Oxfordshire County Council's ‘Better Ways to School Programme', which is currently focusing on providing support for cycle and scooter parking facilities.
Oxfordshire County Council said:
"Scootering is a fun and healthy way to travel to school and gives pupils exercise, which has been proven to increase concentration and memory. It is also environmentally friendly, as it can cut down on unnecessary car journeys, which in turn eases congestion."
Urban Engineering's unique Scooter Racks are available in a range of colours and finished in a tough chip resistant paint that offers a low maintenance solution. They also can be supplied either single or double sided with both designs holding 10 scooters each.
The racks themselves are made from steel welded 50mm diameter tubular construction. The scooters are then supported in place via 6mm thick plates and made secure with a 12.5mm diameter steel pin, drilled at one end to accept a padlock (not supplied) and attached to the rack with a heavy duty chain.
To enhance the Scooter Parks overall aesthetic at Faringdon Junior School, Nottsward, an environmentally friendly grass like surface was also installed. This unique material disperses rain water quickly and effectively, plus gives excellent slip skid resistance.
